Free as a Bird

I’m sorry I’ve been MIA last couple of days. First day my internet was down all day…..gurrrr, then life just got busy, you know, going to Costco, had fun with Sheila (she is on my team), we played with some new products. OMG! I will be sharing mostly new products from here on out. The new Catalog goes live on June 4th, Noon MT….finally!

This is the first card I’ve made with the Free as a Bird stamp set. You can get this stamp set in a bundle along with the Stitched Nested Labels Die and save 10%. Find all the coordinating products on pages, 90-92 of the new catalog. We are using several products from this suite.

I stamped the birds on the branch (one stamp) with Black Memento Ink, and die cut them with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies, then colored them in with Stampin’ Blends. The card base is Calypso Coral, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. The Bird Ballad DSP is 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. After adhering the DSP, stamp your greeting in Memento Ink. I really love this sentiment, The world needs more of you.

Wrap your card with a piece of the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon with the knot on the right side (or which ever side doesn’t have the dsp). I tucked one of the Bird Ballad Trinkets under the knot with a Glue Dot, then added Dimensionals to the birds and adhered it right over the ribbon to the left side of the card.

After I had the card finished (or so I thought) I decided I wanted to show a little bit of the new Perennial Essence Vellum. Find this item on page 169 of the new catalog. So I cut a 2″ piece and punched with the new Delightful Tag Topper Punch, added a little adhesive and tucked it under the birds.

I love the Stampin’ Blends, but I need much more practice. I find when coloring in smaller images like this stamp I can be more successful. I started with the light Calypso Coral and colored in the birds bellies, then added a little bit of the darker, then went back and blended with the lighter shade. The head and wings were done the same way but with Crumb Cake. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and it seemed to soften a bit. The branch was colored with Crumb Cake, leaves with Granny Apple Green and the flowers with Bermuda Bay.

You can purchase most of these products on June 4th when the catalog goes live!
