Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper

This week is to “case a catalog sample” over at SUO Challenge. I am casing a card that is in the 2nd release of Sale-a-bration. I know you can’t see it right now, you will be able to view all 3 of the new SAB items on Friday. This new Springtime Foil Specialty Paper is stunning. You get 12 sheets, 3 each of 4 single sided designs, and you can get it for FREE with a $50 order starting Friday, Feb. 16th. Trust me when I say that this paper is much prettier in person.  I think the flowers are my favorite. Wait till you see them colored with Stampin’ Blends.

I used the leaves paper for my card. The leaves are silver with some smaller gold leaves. I cut out a couple of  leaves and sponged on some Pear Pizzazz ink. The Happy Birthday comes from the Southern Serenade stamp set.I used a Black Stitched Shape Circle to ground everything and some Solid Black Baker’s Twine. The Specialty Paper really does all the work for you.  I hope you “case” something from the catalog too. You can visit: http://suochallenges.com/ to see all the details.

Stamping With Brusho

WHAT! Yep, you can stamp with Brusho. I saw a video on Pinterest and now I can’t find it……but I will say that Kim Jolley has a couple of videos that are awesome. The only drawback is that your stamps will be stained. It doesn’t change the stamp, it stamps perfect, just discolored.

I started with the hills (stamp on the left), added some Prussian Blue & Moss Green to the stamp, (remember the blue is really STRONG, so go lightly), spritzed the stamp and stamped the image. I then stamped again, (without adding more color, just more water). Next I stamped “land” with Moss Green, (its the stamp on the right), I stamped a couple of times, adding water to the stamp.I did the trees next, Prussian Blue & Moss Green, stamped a few times, again spritzing each time before I stamped. The water (top stamp) was stamped twice and I took my Aqua Painter and moved the color around just a bit. I also took my Wink of Stella and made the water look like a reflection. You can’t see it in the photos, but its there. Finished off with two strands of Linen Thread, having it go through each end of the Friend sentiment. I ended up with some Brusho for the sky and I just left it. Next is a beach scene. I changed the trees for Palm Trees. Those I used Early Espresso Ink (after everything is dry), Garden Green for the palms and then stamped Lemon Lime Twist. I used my Aqua Painter to make some mounds at the bottom of the tree trunks, and my Stampin’ Write Marker to define the trunks a bit. I watered down the Blue and used my Aqua Painter to paint on the sky. After I did that, I thought, why didn’t I add the sun. So I stamped it in Pumpkin Pie Ink, used the Fine Tip Glue to cover it and let it dry. After it was dry I cut it out and put it on my card. I added the Wink of Stella to the water again.I feel like it needs something, but I’m not sure what. You all have any ideas? Bring them on. You don’t have to be an artist to watercolor, because I’m certainly not. The stamps and Brusho do all the work for you. Make sure you have lots of paper towels, your Aqua Painter and spritzer. I used Watercolor Paper for both cards.
