Shimmer Paint Holder

Continuing on with my gifts for my team, everyone was getting a bottle of shimmer paint, so I had to make a holder. This one I found on Deb Valder’s blog. Its pretty simple.  I fancied it up with more Detailed Leaves Thinlits and flowers using Stitched Labels Framelits.

Cut your cardstock, 2″ x 10 3/4″, Score at 4 5/8″ at both ends. I used the Country Lane Designer Series Paper cut at, 1 3/4″ x 10 1/2″, score at 4 1/2″ on both ends.  Adhere the dsp to the cardstock and fold on the score lines.  For the little piece to hold the Shimmer Paint, cut 2″ x 3 1/2″ and score at 1″ at both ends. I used a 1″ Circle Punch to punch the hole, between the score lines.  I used my Tear & Tape to adhere to the middle of the holder.  I used a 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to punch the “handle” but if I had to do over, I wouldn’t even bother with the hole. Then I just layered the leaves with Glue Dots. Added the flower with hot glue. I found the only way the flowers stay is with hot glue.  After the flower was attached I went back in with some Copper Shimmer Paint  & a Sponge Dauber and sponged the edges.

You can see a close up of the flower & leaves. The leaves were sponged with Copper Shimmer Paint before I added them to the front of the holder. Make sure you let the paint dry before curling the edges with your Bone Folder, or you will have paint everywhere…..ask me how I know?

This is a side view of the holder, does it all make sense now? Now are you wondering how I did the flowers? I did have a video, but having issues with YouTube……so, take your Stitched Label and cut in a circular pattern, break down the fibers by using your Bone Folder, it also gets the paper to curl a bit for you. Then take a skewer or end of a paint brush (you need something small) and start curling up the the die cut, starting at the outside edge. Curl around the skewer until you reach the end, and place a bit of hot glue in that little circle and hold down until the glue cools. I did the same thing with the purple circle, for a smaller flower.

Then take a Sponge Dauber with Copper Shimmer Paint and sponge the edges. It looks like you embossed the flowers with Copper Embossing Powder.

This was the project I did the video on.  You can see I embossed the large leaf with the Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder. Supply List: for the Shimmer Paint Holders.
