I recently went to a wedding shower for a friend. I knew I was going to give her a gift card, but just didn’t want to put a gift card in an envelope with a card. I thought how about a box of hand made thank you cards? The wedding colors are Night of Navy & Petal Pink. Ok, so really Navy and Light Pink…. Don’t you think in Stampin’ Up! colors? LOL So, you know how I LOVE to do 3-d projects, look what I did.
I’m going to start with the gift box. I wanted my box to be big enough to fit 20 note cards & envelopes. So my box is 4″ x 6″ finished.
Here’s the math:
I used Petal Pink for the bottom of the box, and Share What You Love Specialty Paper for the lid. This dsp is perfect for making boxes since its a little thicker than regular dsp, and it matched perfectly to the the Petal Pink. The lid sides are shorter than the box bottom. Make sense? Instead of wasting my dsp, I cut up copy paper to make sure my measurements were correct. I had about 3 revisions…….
Now that I have the box made its time to decorate. My favorite part.
I know the Spiral Flower die is retired, but so glad I kept it. It was the perfect topper for my box. I die cut 3 flowers with Petal Pink cardstock. I used a glue gun to glue the flowers together. After that I kind of bent the petals back a bit and squished it. Then I took Wink of Stella and added to the tips of the petals. Next I glued the flowers to the Stitched Labels piece, die cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then I tucked the Vellum Leaves under the flowers. It was still missing any something, and I thought what if I took one of the Delicate Lace Edgelits (largest one) and die cut it in Navy and put it under the Stitched label. Flat wasn’t going to work, so I added some Tear & Tape to the bottom edge and kind of pleated the edgelit. Then I used my glue gun to attach it to the Stitched label. BINGO! Now were talking. I used the Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon around the box. (Its retired too).
Now for the Note Cards. Since I was doing 20, it had to be quick and easy. Using our Note Cards with Envelopes makes it easy. I decided to add that block of color (Petal Pink) to a size D block, spritz, then stamp onto your card. Once they are dry I used my Stamparatus to stamp the flower & sentiment in Night of Navy. I first did the flowers, then flipped my clear plate over and lined up the sentiment. I didn’t do them together since I didn’t have a perfect placement of the block stamped image on each card. I’m so glad I kept all the Stampin’ Spots from Paper Pumpkin. Using the Spots is easier that a big ink pad. We also have some un-inked Stampin’ Spots on page 203 of the Annual Catalog. Make sure you buy a Re-Inker in the color/s you need. I finished off each card with some Linen Thread and a few Adhesive Backed Sequins.
I originally was going to do the note cards like below, where I sponged on the left side and Embossed the flowers by stamping in Versamark Ink and Black Embossing Powder. The sentiment is from the Dandelion Wishes stamp set. Then I re-thought all the embossing and sponging and came up with the above card.
I added the same Delicate Detail Die to the inside as the box top. The envelope liner is from the Beautiful Layers Framelits.Supply List: You can click on any of the thumbnail photos and it will take you to my Online Store.
